KOTA KINABALU: After years without proper clean water, Bengkoka villagers can now enjoy the supply from a new chemical-free treatment system that was launched on Sunday (Nov 16) in Pitas.
Parti Warisan’s Bengkoka candidate Fauziah Mohd Fuad Stephens launched the pilot at Kg Dandun, saying that it is expected to solve longstanding water issues.
She said families previously woke as early as 4am to search for water, and sometimes drew water from rivers.
She said that with the new system, villagers can now enjoy clean, consumable water.
A Malaysian company developed the system specialising in water and wastewater treatment.
Its solutions include purification, industrial wastewater treatment and water reuse systems.
Fauziah partnered with the company to bring the pilot to Bengkoka.
“This is not just a machine. It saves time, promotes health and improves quality of life,” she said.
Fauziah is one of 11 candidates vying for the Bengkoka seat.
