SANDAKAN: MCA is pushing for stronger, sustained investment in education, stressing that a long-term commitment to quality learning is essential if Sabah hopes to build a more competitive workforce and secure its future development.
Party president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said education was a vital pathway for children from modest backgrounds to uplift their lives, adding that MCA remains committed to this.
He said this after meeting a Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) graduate during a walkabout at the Kim Fung Market in Mile 4 here with Barisan Nasional’s Karamunting candidate Datuk Chin Kim Hiung on Sunday (Nov 16).
“This is an encouraging moment. UTAR, founded by MCA, has nurtured countless outstanding talents over the decades and helped many students from humble backgrounds change their future through education,” he said in a Facebook post on Sunday (Nov 16).
Meanwhile, Chin said many of Karamunting’s long-standing problems, including irregular water and electricity supply, damaged roads and persistent garbage build-up, have affected daily life and slowed economic growth.
“If elected, I will do my best to upgrade public amenities and improve the quality of life for residents,” he said.
