PETALING JAYA:

Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) today announced Yabri Onos as its candidate for the Kemabong seat in the Nov 29 election in Sabah.

KDM secretary-general Willie Jude said this brought the total number of candidates announced from 39 to 40.

He added that KDM would be changing its candidate for Inanam from George Guntarik to Lewis Wong.

“This change is part of the party’s strategy in facing the 17th Sabah election,” he said in a statement today.

KDM unveiled 39 candidates yesterday, including acting president Priscella Peter who will vie for the Melalap seat previously held by her father Peter Anthony, who also founded the party.

Peter won the seat in 2018 and retained it in the 2020 state polls. He is currently serving a three-year prison sentence for forgery.

Priscella, 27, replaced her father as KDM president when he began his jail sentence in March.

KDM deputy president Wetrom Bahanda, who previously held the Bandau seat, will now run in Matunggong.

Party vice-president Henry Saimpon, a former professional footballer, will vie for the Kiulu seat, which has been held by Parti Bersatu Sabah information chief Joniston Bangkuai since 2013.
