PUTRAJAYA: The federal government will begin its first round of negotiations with the Sabah state government on the 40 per cent revenue entitlement next Monday.
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the meeting will be held at an official level, with the federal delegation led by Treasury secretary-general Datuk Johan Merican, while the Sabah delegation will be led by state secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong.
He said this arrangement was made as Sabah is currently in the midst of an election and the chief minister is serving in a caretaker capacity.
“In today’s Cabinet meeting, it was decided that the discussions must be held as soon as possible, and the first round of talks will take place on Monday next week.
“This demonstrates the seriousness of the federal government in implementing the High Court’s decision and fulfilling our responsibilities.
“The discussions will be held at Menara Kinabalu, the Sabah State Administrative Centre,” he said at a joint press conference with the communications minister today.
