MBSP acts swiftly to repair road subsidence, collapsed retaining wall in Teluk Air Tawar

BUTTERWORTH: The Seberang Prai City Council (MBSP) has taken immediate action following road subsidence and the collapse of a reinforced concrete (RC) retaining wall near a riverbank at Taman Seri Tawar, Teluk Air Tawar, here to ensure public safety.

MBSP mayor Datuk Baderul Amin Abdul Hamid visited the site yesterday to assess the situation after receiving public complaints about the incident.

The visit, carried out under the Management By Walking Around (MBWA) approach, aimed to evaluate the extent of the damage affecting the road structure and the drainage system in the area.

“Datuk Bandar emphasised the importance of taking immediate action to safeguard public safety and prevent further deterioration in the affected area,” the city council said in a statement on its official Facebook page.

MBSP added that immediate repair works — including the installation of sheet piles, reconstruction of the RC retaining wall and restoration of the road and drains along a 130-metre stretch — are expected to begin at the end of this month.
