Sabah polls: PGRS Klias leaders join BN

KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional () Sabah has strengthened its foothold in Beaufort following the decision by the top leadership of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) in the Klias state constituency to leave the party and join .

In a statement today, Sabah described the move as a new wave that reflects growing confidence in the coalition’s leadership and direction.

Among those who joined BN were PGRS Beaufort division deputy chief, Shahron @ Omar Osin; PGRS Beaufort youth chief and PGRS Klias youth chief, Mohd Shahril Osin; and PGRS Klias division committee member, Yakob Jilon, along with several branch leaders and grassroots supporters from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) in the area.

“The grassroots leaders in Beaufort now realise that the genuine struggle for the people can only continue under the BN umbrella, which has a clear structure, direction, and a proven record of achievement,” the statement said.

BN Sabah also said PGRS appeared to have lost its sense of direction, trapped in disorganised and visionless leadership, while ordinary citizens continued to feel the impact of the current state government’s administrative weaknesses.

At the same time, BN Sabah welcomed the new members with open arms.

“This is not about the number of individuals leaving a party, but about the momentum and the message it sends — that the people have started to rise, rejecting failed leadership and returning to the true strength of development-driven politics.

“The entry of the main PGRS Klias leadership into BN proves one important point — that political dynamics in Sabah are changing, and BN is leading that change,” the statement added.
