PETALING JAYA:

Jordan Jude Ellron, the son of former Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) deputy president Ellron Angin, has resigned as the party’s youth chief and Nabawan division chief, after he and the party’s youth executive committee were not given any seat to contest in the coming Sabah election.

In a Facebook post, Jude said he had resigned as youth chief as he did not feel the position had any purpose.

However, he did not say if he had also resigned as a STAR member.

STAR will contest 40 seats in the state polls on Nov 29.

“Not a single seat was given to members of STAR Youth’s executive committee.

“The president (Jeffrey Kitingan) announced last month that I would be nominated for the Tulid seat, (a matter) confirmed in a political bureau meeting.

“Not long after, STAR deputy youth chief Razidin Robert was also twice announced as the candidate for Bingkor and was confirmed by the political bureau, but this also did not come to pass,” he said.

Jude said he would be contesting in Tulid as an independent candidate, and thanked Kitingan for the experience he gained at the party.

Earlier today, Kitingan announced that Evaristus Gungkit and Ishak Ayub would be fielded to contest the Tulid and Bingkor seats, respectively.

Jude said he had worked hard to serve and develop the party, especially around the Pensiangan parliamentary constituency, and that the voters there knew his record of service.

“Still, some toxic party leaders may say ‘like father, like son’. I have already said that I will not follow his footsteps in leaving the party, as I remain loyal to the president and believe in his struggle.

“The president and his advisers have themselves suggested that I run in Sook (against Ellron). Sending me to contest against him is a suicide mission. This would also affect our relationship as father and son,” he said.

Ellron, who broke ranks with STAR recently to remain with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah following the party’s exit, is the incumbent for Sook.
