KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 12 — A police officer known as “Inspector Sheila” was charged again in the Magistrates’ Court here today with obstructing a police officer from carrying out his duties in front of a restaurant last week.

According to Bernama, Inspector Sheila, whose full name is Sheila Sharon Steven Kumar, 37, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read out to her.

She was accused of intentionally obstructing Lance Corporal Malvinderjit Singh Teerath Singh, 37, from performing his crime prevention patrol duties in front of a restaurant along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Dang Wangi, between 8.15pm and 8.30pm on November 4.

The charge, framed under Section 186 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum jail term of two years, a fine of up to RM10,000, or both upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Hench Goh offered bail at RM7,000 with one surety, but lawyer M. Manoharan, representing Sheila, requested bail be reduced to RM500, citing that his client is a civil servant who has served in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for nine years.

Magistrate Aina Azahra Arifin set bail at RM6,600 with one surety and fixed January 20, 2026, for case mention.

When police escorted Sheila to court for the proceedings, she was seen smiling and greeting members of the media while dressed in a pink blouse and skirt, but questioned why her photos were being taken, asserting that consent was required.

According to earlier reports, Sheila had allegedly berated on-duty officers during the November 4 incident, accusing them of ignorance of the law and belittling their actions, while claiming that an officer had threatened a foreign national.

A video of the incident, which Sheila uploaded on social media, had gone viral — showing her alleging that the police had intimidated a Pakistani motorcyclist.

Inspector Sheila has been suspended from duty since June 23, 2023, over several cases, including allegedly insulting a fellow police officer and threatening an elderly woman.
