Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today brushed off speculation that former minister Khairy Jamaluddin would be returning to his Cabinet.
“Is that so… who told you?” he asked reporters here today.
His brief remark followed a report by Malaysia Gazette claiming that a major Cabinet reshuffle could take place in early December, with Khairy tipped to be natural resources and environmental sustainability minister.
The report claimed that the reshuffle would focus on strengthening the government’s economic team, reducing the size of the Cabinet and ensuring the continuity of policies.
It also claimed that Johari Ghani was expected to be appointed as investment, trade and industry minister, and that the economy ministry could be merged under the finance ministry.
Other possible changes mentioned include the promotion of deputy entrepreneur development and cooperatives minister R Ramanan to minister, and adjustments at the deputy minister level.
