PETALING JAYA:The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Kedah has directed all its officers to undergo urine tests as part of efforts to ensure that they are free from drug use.

Kedah MACC director Nazli Rasyid Sulong the initiative was aimed at strengthening integrity and ensuring that the commission’s personnel maintained strong physical and mental readiness, Berita Harian reported.

“As part of MACC’s commitment to internal integrity, all officers and staff of Kedah MACC are required to undergo urine testing.

“This initiative will ensure that our workforce remains free from the influence of drugs and ketum, while also reinforcing their physical and mental preparedness,” he said at the 2025 Kedah MACC integrity roadshow at the commission’s office in Anak Bukit.

Commenting on the programme, Nazli said it served as a preventive and control measure for MACC officers, particularly in Kedah.

“MACC should not wait for disciplinary breaches to occur before taking action. Preventive and awareness measures such as this are far more important to ensure that discipline, mental health, and productivity among officers remain at their best,” he said.

The programme, organised in collaboration with MACC’s excellence and professionalism division (BCP), featured three comprehensive training modules.

The first, led by religious teacher Ahmad Zaky Md Ali, focused on instilling integrity and moral values through religious perspectives.

“The second module emphasised mental and psychological resilience, where BCP psychologist Azlan Seruji discussed emotional management, workplace stress, and the importance of mental health.

“Meanwhile, BCP officer Norhushaffiz Hussin reminded participants about disciplinary risks, explaining the rules of conduct and the serious implications of violating work ethics,” Nazli said.
