40pct revenue: Discussions that do not lead anywhere unacceptable, says Bung

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Barisan Nasional () will no longer accept discussions on constitutional rights that fail to produce results, said Sabah chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.

He said any future negotiations must be transparent, based on verified financial data, and free from political manoeuvring.

“A constitutional right is not a bargaining chip, it must be honoured exactly as written.

Sabah will scrutinise every stage of this process,” he said in a statement.

The former Sabah deputy chief minister was responding to the Federal Government’s decision not to appeal the Kota Kinabalu High Court ruling and to begin negotiations immediately.

He added that the federal government’s responsibility is clear and indivisible: to restore Sabah’s entitlements without delay.

In any modern legal jurisdiction, a constitutional right cannot be delayed, diluted, or disregarded without compelling and proportionate justification, he said.

“This is not a political gimmick; it is a demand for constitutional justice. Sabah stands firm, the 40 per cent is Sabah’s right,” he added.
