Volvo Car Malaysia has announced that it is extending free in-car data connectivity for another year for selected electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models from 2022 to 2023 that feature Google built-in systems.

The complimentary service, now branded as Volvo Car Connect Plus (previously known as Digital Services), gives owners access to Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Google Play Store directly from their car’s infotainment system without requiring smartphone tethering. The one-year extension will be activated automatically.

This update aligns older models with Volvo’s 2024 lineup, which now includes a five-year complimentary data package as standard.
Eligible models include the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, XC60, and XC60 Recharge from model year 2022, as well as the C40, XC40, XC60, XC90, and their Recharge variants from 2023, alongside the S60 Recharge, S90 Recharge, and V60 Recharge.

Volvo says the move aims to reward early adopters who were among the first to experience the brand’s Google-equipped vehicles while ensuring they continue to enjoy the same connected benefits as newer owners.

Volvo Car Connect Plus is also a cornerstone of the company’s next-generation software-driven models, including the upcoming EX90, ES90, and EX60. The system enables over-the-air updates, media streaming, and future AI-driven safety and performance features.

Additionally, the subscription is linked to the vehicle rather than the owner, meaning the data connectivity remains active even if the car is sold, which helps retain its resale value.
