PETALING JAYA:

The Shah Alam High Court has scheduled Nov 14 to hear a landowner’s bid to block the takeover of his land for the construction of a stalled stretch of the West Coast Expressway (WCE).

The application was filed on Nov 6 by S Subramaniam, whose lawyer R Kengadharan confirmed the hearing, The Edge reported.

Subramaniam is seeking a temporary stay order as well as other orders against the Klang Land Administrator, named as the respondent in the application.

The main request is to prohibit any evacuation, demolition, or clearance work on the land, specifically Lot 11113, GRN 19398, Mukim Klang, Daerah Klang, until the main substantive issue is heard and decided by the court.

The legal action is based on a second notice dated Nov 3, 2025, issued under Section 425 of the National Land Code.

The landowner’s affidavit, affirmed on Nov 6, provides further grounds for his application, according to the notice.

It was reported that the government had approved a two-week extension for 19 residents of Kampung Jawa, Klang.

Highway concessionaire WCE Sdn Bhd will be allowed to enter the site from Nov 24 for clean-up works before commencing construction.

The 233km-long highway, slated for completion in 2027, runs from Banting in to Taiping, Perak. Eight of its 11 sections have already been opened.
