Four men arrested after fight over RM120 debt in Setia Alam


SHAH ALAM: Four men were arrested following a fight that caused damage to several vehicles in the parking area of an apartment in Setia Alam here last night.

District police chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the incident occurred around 9pm when police received a call via the MERS 999 line reporting a brawl at the location.

“Acting on the information, police detained four men who were fighting in the apartment’s parking lot around 9.15pm,” he said in a statement.

He said several weapons and vehicles believed to have been used during the fight were seized, including a spear gun with a bow, a crowbar, a motorcycle exhaust, and a Perodua Axia.

“Initial investigation revealed the fight stemmed from a RM120 debt that one of the suspects had failed to settle,” he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with weapons, Section 427 of the same Act for causing property damage, and Section 6 of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958 for possession of dangerous weapons.
