ISKANDAR PUTERI, May 20 — PKR vice-president Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad declined to comment today on his future in the party, saying he will only make a decision after its national congress this weekend.
The 43-year-old politician also refused to say if he would follow PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli who offered to resign from the Cabinet if he loses in the party election later this month.
“We will wait for the election results after the congress,” Nik Nazmi, who is the minister of natural resources and environmental sustainability, told reporters.
He was met after officiating a meeting of the special committee on human-elephant conflict at Bangunan Datuk Jaafar Muhammad in Kota Iskandar here today.
He was responding to questions about his future plans following the PKR national congress, scheduled to take place in Johor Baru from this Thursday to Saturday.
On May 8, Nik Nazmi, who is seen as aligned with Rafizi, announced he would defend his vice-president’s post in the upcoming party election and called on members for their support.
Last month, on April 19, the former PKR youth leader failed to defend his Setiawangsa division chief’s post, losing to challenger Datuk Afdlin Shauki.
