
PETALING JAYA: A former judicial commissioner has claimed trial at the Magistrate’s Court here to two counts of molesting a 28-year-old woman in January.
Datuk Mohamad Shariff Abu Samah, 63, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to him before Magistrate Farah Azura Mohd Saad on Monday (Nov 10).
According to the charge sheets, Mohamad Shariff allegedly used criminal force against the victim with the intention to outrage her modesty in two separate incidents on Jan 6.
He allegedly committed the first offence between 3.45pm and 4pm, from the parking lot of Phileo Damansara in Section 16 to Jaya One at Jalan Professor Diraja Ungku Aziz.
For the second offence, the accused allegedly committed it between 4.45pm and 4.55pm at the lobby of a shop in Jaya One.
Mohamad Shariff was charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which carries imprisonment up to 10 years, or a fine, or whipping, or any two of the punishments, if convicted.
Magistrate Farah Azura allowed bail at RM3,000 in one surety for each of the charges. The case is fixed for mention on Jan 13, next year.
Deputy public prosecutor Raja Zaizul Faridah Raja Zaharudin prosecuted, while the accused was represented by lawyer Syed Azharul Asiq Syed Azhar.
