KUALA LUMPUR: Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), through Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM), will build a national hub for geoscience excellence with the help of Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd.
The Petronas Geoscience Technology Centre (PTGC) will advance geoscience innovation and capability in Malaysia.
Petronas said in a statement an agreement was signed on Oct 21 between MPM and Putrajaya Holdings subsidiary Gilang Cendana Sdn Bhd.
The agreement symbolised a collaborative synergy between both parties, with the Mineral and Geoscience Department as a collaborating partner, said Petronas.
MPM senior vice-president Datuk Bacho Pilong said the centre would be a symbol of its commitment to innovation, sustainability and collaboration.
“It will transform Malaysia’s geoscience landscape by integrating advanced data management, immersive visualisation and collaborative research.
“This vision is further strengthened by PTGC’s pivotal role as the centre of Malaysia’s subsurface heritage, safeguarding over a century of exploration data and ensuring its enduring value for future generations,” he said in the statement.
