GEORGE TOWN, Nov 10 — Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd (Rapid Bus), the operator of Rapid Penang On-Demand, will introduce a new booking app called Rapid On-Demand starting November 15, replacing the current Kummute app.
In a statement today, Rapid Bus said the new app will make it easier and faster for users to book rides across all Rapid Penang On-Demand service zones.
Its acting chief executive officer Ku Jamil Zakaria said the transition is part of Rapid Bus’ effort to standardise its booking platforms in Penang and the Klang Valley, strengthen operations, and enhance digital convenience for passengers.
He said the new app offers a more user-friendly interface with improved features such as setting pick-up locations, real-time vehicle tracking, and live booking updates for a smoother experience.
Ku Jamil added that the Rapid On-Demand app can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store and existing Kummute users are encouraged to switch to the new app before Nov 15 to avoid service interruptions
The RM1 promotional fare will continue for all users in the 11 service zones, with payments accepted via debit or credit card, DuitNow QR, e-wallets, the Mutiara unlimited travel pass, and the Rapid Mesra pass (formerly OKU Smile Pass).
