A married couple died after their motorcycle crashed into a parked lorry on the Pan Borneo Highway near Selangau, both suffering fatal head injuries
SIBU: A married couple was killed when their motorcycle crashed into a parked lorry on the Pan Borneo Highway near Selangau last night.
The accident occurred around 7.45 pm at Kilometre 97 near Spiring when the couple’s motorcycle went out of control.
Mukah police chief DSP Muhammad Rizal Alias identified the victims as Kelly Baling and Belula Amin, both 28 years old.
“Initial investigation revealed that the couple was travelling from Bintulu towards Selangau when their motorcycle went out of control and collided with the stationary lorry,” he said.
Both victims sustained severe head injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from Selangau Health Clinic.
The bodies were taken to Mukah Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Muhammad Rizal said police are tracing the owner and driver of the lorry to assist in the investigation.
