KUALA LUMPUR: Police detained 398 people in a nationwide operation, Op Noda, conducted on Nov 7 and 8, targeting unlicensed entertainment venues.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M Kumar said the operation involved the Secret Societies, Gambling and Vice Division (D7) Bukit Aman, Criminal Investigation Department, local authorities, and the Fire and Rescue Department.
During the operation, 118 entertainment premises were inspected, with 103 found operating without valid licences. The arrests included five owners, three managers, 150 employees, 112 customers, and 128 foreign GROs.
Of those detained, 87 were locals (76 men, 11 women), while 311 were foreigners (151 men, 160 women), aged 19–55, Kumar said.
Kumar stressed that such operations would continue to ensure all entertainment venues comply with licence requirements and registration. He urged the public to assist authorities in combating illegal activities.
