Gua Musang All Set For Northeast Monsoon

GUA MUSANG, Nov 9 (Bernama) — Preparations for the Northeast Monsoon (MTL) in this district are at an optimal level, with the Social Welfare Department (JKM) having delivered food supplies to 57 temporary relief centres (PPS) and 24 forward bases in anticipation of possible floods.

Gua Musang District Disaster Operations Control Centre (PKOB) chairman Mohd Roshdi Ismail said the delivery of essential supplies such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, retort food, and other basic items was completed last week as part of early preparedness measures.

He said the supplies are sufficient to sustain flood victims for between four and five days at designated PPS locations, including Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Limau Kasturi, SK Bertam Baru, Dewan Semai Bakti Felda Chiku 7, and Dewan Orang Ramai Batu 6.

“We have held two coordination meetings on the Northeast Monsoon at both the PKOB and the Incident Control Post levels with the agencies involved. So far, PKOB is very satisfied with the preparations made and confident that flood management can be carried out effectively,” he told reporters here today.

Mohd Roshdi said all agencies involved are on standby to play their respective roles, while rescue personnel are mentally and physically prepared to face any eventuality.
