KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a thunderstorm warning for ten states and territories, effective until 9pm today.
Affected areas include Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Sarawak, Sabah, and the Federal Territory of Labuan.
Authorities are warning residents to expect thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rainfall and strong winds throughout the evening.
The warning was issued at 5.45pm after meteorological indicators showed signs of intense weather systems developing across the regions.
According to MetMalaysia, the alert applies when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to last more than one hour.
This warning remains valid for a maximum of six hours from the time of issuance.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay informed about weather updates.
