YALA, Nov 9 (Bernama) — A total of 42 orphans and 10 underprivileged individuals in southern Thailand were celebrated today by the Malaysian Consulate in Songkhla, in collaboration with the Malaysian Universities Alumni Association of Thailand (MUAT), through the provision of scholarships and food packages.
Malaysia’s Consul-General in Songkhla, Ahmad Fahmi Ahmad Sarkawi, said the contributions were aimed at easing the burden of poor students who are also orphans, as well as underprivileged families.
“I hope the assistance given today can bring a ray of hope to the students here,” he told reporters on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Karimah Hanikmat, a guardian of four orphans, expressed her gratitude to Malaysia and MUAT for their willingness to provide aid to underprivileged students.
“These contributions serve as an inspiration for the students and helps us continue our efforts to assist those in greater need,” she said.
Earlier, Ahmad Fahmi, together with MUAT representatives, presented scholarships and food packages to 52 orphans and underprivileged individuals in southern Thailand in conjunction with the 10th anniversary celebration of MUAT in Thailand.
