KOTA BHARU, Nov 9 — The Kelantan government has confirmed that there have been no illegal gold sales on state-owned land, so far.
Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohamed Fadzli Hassan said most of the reports they have received were merely views posted on social media by certain individuals.
“Most reports were via social media, and after studying these reports, they are merely opinions. We found that there have been no violations or illegal gold sales.
“However, we are still studying and scrutinising what has been raised while awaiting the full report. Several approaches have been implemented to ensure gold mining operators comply with the stipulated guidelines,” he said.
He was replying to a supplementary question from Datuk Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim (BN-Galas), who asked for updates on the investigation into gold mining in Kusial, Tanah Merah, during the State Legislative Assembly sitting at the Kota Darulnaim Complex today.
“If there is any incident of non-compliance during mining, relevant agencies like the Department of Mineral and Geoscience Malaysia and the Environment Department will be responsible for taking appropriate action under their respective legal provisions,” he said. — Bernama
