UniMAP PALAPES Launches Digital System To Track ROTU Alumni Nationwide

ALOR SETAR, Nov 9 (Bernama) — The Reserve Officers Training Unit (PALAPES) of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) has developed the UniMAP ROTU Alumni Tracking System to track and manage its alumni information more systematically and efficiently.

UniMAP vice-chancellor Datuk Prof Dr Zaliman Sauli said the system is the first digital platform that allows former cadet officers to update their personal information, employment status and current location online, thereby strengthening the relationship between alumni and the university.

Zaliman, who is also UniMAP PALAPES Commander, said the system was developed by the Data Management and Digitalisation Centre (DMDC) in collaboration with UniMAP PALAPES as an important step to enhance the efficiency of alumni data management.

“UniMAP PALAPES is the first team to develop such a digital system, designed with various additional functions to facilitate monitoring and reference.

“One of the key features of the system is the location pin update every three months, which enables the current whereabouts of PALAPES alumni to be automatically detected through a digital map,” he said at the UniMAP PALAPES  Regimental Dinner here last night.

At the event, the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is also UniMAP Chancellor, officiated the launch of the system.

Also gracing the event was the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Hajah Dr Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, who is UniMAP Pro-Chancellor.

Zaliman said the data in the system is crucial to ensure that alumni remain connected to the university regardless of where they are.

“The pin feature will help track alumni more systematically and provide a strong foundation to reinforce the bond between UniMAP and former cadet officers.

“The system also displays information such as enrolment year, state of origin, career field and employer,” he said.

“The UniMAP ROTU Alumni Tracking System provides analytical and statistical reports to help the management plan alumni programmes more strategically,” he said.

Meanwhile, UniMAP PALAPES Deputy Commander Major Muhamad Azuan Mohamad Nasir said the system will continue to be improved in the future with additional modules such as event notifications, alumni forums and profiles highlighting former cadets’ achievements.

“This initiative also supports the Digital Transformation Agenda of public universities, in line with UniMAP’s commitment to strengthening alumni networks and enhancing leadership and character development among graduates.

“I believe with the implementation of this system, UniMAP is now among the earliest public universities to introduce digital ROTU alumni tracking, in line with the aspiration to produce disciplined, visionary graduates who continue contributing to the university and the nation,” he said.
