SHAH ALAM, Nov 9 — Several Parti Amanah Negara delegates once again pressed for their motions concerning the party’s elections, scheduled for next year, to be debated today.
Barely an hour into the second day of the national convention, about three delegates took to the microphone to voice their concerns.
“Sit down, sit down,” the convention’s speaker, Azhar Abdul Shukur, repeatedly told them.
Azhar eventually allowed two delegates to present their proposals on the party elections, but the session quickly descended into a shouting match.

“We want it to be debated, not just proposed!” one delegate shouted.
Two debaters then took opposing positions — one calling for the elections to be postponed beyond 2026, while another insisted that they proceed as scheduled.
During the commotion, a delegate was seen being carried out by members of Amanah’s volunteer corps, Skuad Arif.

Another delegate then approached and shoved him, prompting the volunteers to step in and separate the two men.
Azhar later instructed the floor to move on to other motions that had been accepted for debate.
The first motion taken up was a proposal to raise the age limit for Amanah’s young women’s wing from 35 to 40.
Yesterday, Amanah vice-president Datuk Mohd Hatta Ramli clarified that motions concerning the 2026 party elections would not be debated, as the matter was premature and the party constitution does not permit decisions to be made in advance.
