BACHOK, Nov 8 (Bernama) — Kelantan‘s first drag circuit at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) Bachok is expected to further boost motorsport activities in the state.
UMK Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Arham Abdullah said the project was carried out through collaboration between Koperasi Universiti Malaysia Kelantan Berhad and the Drag Dolphin Club (DDC) Team.
He said the circuit will serve as a catalyst for new ventures within the motorsport, innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem at UMK and in Kelantan.
“UMK has allocated five acres as the initial site and plans to expand the development further in the future,” he told reporters here today.
Arham said the 500-metre track includes spaces for drag and drift activities as well as sales and gathering areas, which will be gradually upgraded to ensure participant comfort and safety.
He added that UMK also plans to collaborate with the National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) and GiatMARA to develop the area into a TVET-based training centre for automotive and motorsport fields.
