Malaysia wins bid to host 7th Islamic Solidarity Games 2029 in Selangor, supported by federal and state governments for Islamic sports unity.
MALAYSIA has secured hosting rights for the 7th Islamic Solidarity Games in 2029.
The Olympic Council of Malaysia confirmed the announcement by the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association.
Malaysia will host the event in collaboration with the Selangor state government.
OCM president Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria expressed honour at being selected for the prestigious Games.
“This bid is fully supported and officially endorsed by both the Federal Government of Malaysia and the State Government of Selangor,” he said.
Malaysia had competed against Iran and Uzbekistan for the hosting rights.
The Islamic Solidarity Games aims to unite the Islamic sporting community through friendship and solidarity.
Mohamad Norza thanked the ISSA Games Commission for their trust in Malaysia’s hosting capabilities.
The Games represent Malaysia’s first time hosting this international Islamic sporting event.
Both federal and state governments share the vision to promote sports development across the Islamic world. – Bernama
