BERNAMA – BN Continues To Champion Interests Of The People Of Sabah

KOTA KINABALU, Nov 8 (Bernama) — Barisan Nasional (BN) will continue to champion the interests of the people of Sabah for the sake of stability and ongoing development in the state and country, said BN Secretary-General Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir.

Zambry, who is also the Minister of Higher Education, said this principle remains central to the BN‘s struggle as it prepares for the upcoming 17th Sabah State Election (PRN).

“We will continue the tradition of fighting for the people’s interests because the most important thing for every state and country is stability, which must be preserved and defended,” he said after the BN Supreme Council Meeting at the Sabah UMNO State Headquarters today.

The meeting, chaired by BN Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also Deputy Prime Minister, also discussed final preparations for the 17th Sabah state election, including cooperation with Pakatan Harapan (PH) as well as the seat distribution that has been finalised.

Zambry said the launch of the BN election machinery for the Sabah polls will be held at 2.30 pm tomorrow at a hotel here, as a symbol of BN’s readiness to enter the campaign phase.

Meanwhile, Zambry said the central BN leadership has entrusted the Sabah BN leadership with the announcement of thecandidates for this election.

“We leave it to the leadership in Sabah because they have the autonomy to announce the names of the candidates. So, as to when they choose to make the announcement, I leave it to them to decide,” he said.

Based on a media invitation from UMNO, the announcement of the party’s candidates will be made at noon tomorrow by Sabah UMNO chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.
