KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 8 — An 11-year-old schoolboy died yesterday after receiving two days of treatment following a drowning incident during a water confidence support programme at the Desa Tasik Sports Complex swimming pool in Sungai Besi here on Wednesday.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said police received a report on the incident involving the student from the Integrated Special Education Programme (PPKI) on the same day it occurred.
The pupil was from a national school in Kuala Lumpur.
“The victim was sent for treatment at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia but was confirmed dead at 2.30pm yesterday.
“The student was buried at the As-Syuhada Muslim Cemetery in Sungai Udang, Melaka, and further investigations into the incident are ongoing,” he said in a statement today. — Bernama
