Deepavali Spirit Shines At Negeri Sembilan Open House With Over 7,000 Visitors

SEREMBAN, Nov 8 (Bernama) — The festive spirit of Deepavali shone brightly as more than 7,000 visitors of various communities thronged the state-level open house at the Taman Seremban Jaya Community Hall here today, graced by the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.

Also present was the Tunku Ampuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Aishah Rohani Almarhum Tengku Besar Mahmud. Their Royal Highnesses were welcomed by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

Aminuddin expressed appreciation to the more than 7,000 visitors who enlivened the celebration, which began at 11 am.

“This year’s celebration was hosted by the Seremban district. The lively atmosphere and strong multiracial turnout reflect the harmony that continues to thrive in Negeri Sembilan,” he told reporters.

He said the state government remains committed to supporting the Indian community through various forms of assistance and inclusive development programmes.

More than 20 dishes were served at the open house, including chapati, roti canai, mutton curry, puri, satay and nasi beriani, while guests were entertained with dance and singing performances by local artists.

Aminuddin also distributed festive cash packets to children attending the event.

Meanwhile, Seremban Jaya assemblyman P. Gunasekaran said the participation of residents from Sabah and Sarawak added to the uniqueness of this year’s celebration.

“There are Iban and Kadazan groups who have lived here for over 20 years and formed their own communities. Their participation highlights the unity and strong community spirit among the people,” he said.
