KUANTAN, Nov 8 — A blaze engulfed three fuel tankers at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF Batu 10 Camp in Gambang this afternoon, but no one was injured.

Datuk Mohd Razam Taja Rahim, director of the Pahang Fire and Rescue Department, said his team received the emergency call at 2.50pm, with fire engines from Taman Tas arriving six minutes later, national news agency Bernama reported.

“Two of the tankers each held 40,000 litres of fuel, while the third 20,000-litre tanker was successfully saved,” he was quoted as saying.

The fire also caused partial damage to nearby building walls, he added.

Mohd Razam said the blaze likely started during fuel transfer from the tankers to aircraft refuelling tanks.

Seven firefighters from Taman Tas tackled the fire with a 100-foot hose and pump jet, assisted by six personnel from Indera Mahkota and 38 RMAF firefighters using foam suppression techniques.

The fire was under control by 3.23pm, with operations fully wrapped up at 4.20pm.
