LANGKAWI: A hijab trader died after the motorcycle she was riding skidded while trying to avoid a cow crossing Jalan Ulu Melaka here.

The victim, 23-year-old Siti Sarah Hana Mohamad Subri from Kota Kuala Muda, Kedah, was reported dead at the scene after sustaining severe head injuries.

Langkawi district police chief Assistant Commissioner Khairul Azhar Nuruddin, said Siti Sarah was travelling from Kampung Ulu Melaka towards Ayer Hangat when the accident occurred at around 11.40pm yesterday.

“Upon reaching the site, the motorcycle skidded while she attempted to avoid a cow crossing from the left to the right shoulder of the road,” he said in a statement today.

The victim’s body was taken to the Forensic Unit of Hospital Sultanah Maliha for an autopsy.

“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.
