SHAH ALAM, Nov 8 (Bernama) — Two prominent figures in Malaysia’s logistics and maritime sectors were among 33 distinguished industry players nationwide conferred with the Chartered Fellow (FCILT) at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Malaysia Convocation 2025 held today.
Lion Logistics Group of Companies chief executive officer Datuk Seri Patrick Tiong Chiong Kui and Labuan Port Authority (LPA) general manager Mizool Amir Mat Drus received the FCILT title from Ministry of Transport secretary-general Datuk Seri Jana Santhiran Muniayan during the ceremony at the Shah Alam Convention Centre.
According to CILT Malaysia, the fellowship represents the highest professional recognition in logistics and transport, awarded based on merit, leadership excellence, and outstanding contributions to the advancement of the industry in Malaysia and abroad.
Tiong, who heads one of East Malaysia’s largest integrated logistics and port management groups — encompassing Megah Port Management, Sailion Shipping, Lions Transport and Kren Antarabangsa — was recognised for his strategic role in driving innovation and sustainable growth in the maritime logistics chain.
Under his leadership, the group has expanded regional operations and strengthened Labuan’s position as a key maritime and logistics hub for Borneo.
Meanwhile, Mizool Amir was honoured for his exemplary leadership in port governance and infrastructure development at the Bintulu Port Authority and Labuan Port Authority.
He has been instrumental in enhancing port efficiency, safety standards and digital transformation initiatives that align with Malaysia’s broader maritime and trade facilitation objectives.
CILT Malaysia deputy president Dr Zawiah Abdul Majid said, “The recognition of both recipients reflects the growing importance of capable and visionary leaders in strengthening Malaysia’s transport and logistics ecosystem, particularly in supporting the nation’s supply chain resilience and regional connectivity.”
She said the Malaysian chapter, which was established in 1965, continues to play a key role in developing professional standards, accreditation, and education within the industry.
The ceremony also celebrated other distinguished professionals from various sectors, including aviation, public transport, rail, and supply chain management, all of whom were recognised for their professional achievements and contributions towards national development.
Established in 1919, CILT is a global professional body dedicated to promoting excellence in logistics, transport, and supply chain management.
