Putrajaya cautions visitors over misuse of social visit passes

, Nov 7 — The Cabinet has warned foreign tourists not to misuse their social visit passes to seek employment or conduct business in Malaysia, Communications Minister Datuk Fadzil said today.

“The Cabinet would like to remind tourists that stern action will be taken against those caught abusing social visit pass privileges,” said at his weekly press conference here today.

Separately, said the Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim, also agreed to hold the Festival of Ideas (FOI) annually in .

The ongoing FOI 2025, which will run until Nov 8, is expected to draw nearly 500,000 visitors and around two million participants, including 1.5 million virtual attendees from around the world.

Fahmi added that the Cabinet also expressed appreciation to for leading successful bilateral talks during his recent visit to for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit.
