PUTRAJAYA, Nov 7 — The Cabinet has warned foreign tourists not to misuse their social visit passes to seek employment or conduct business in Malaysia, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said today.
“The Cabinet would like to remind tourists that stern action will be taken against those caught abusing social visit pass privileges,” Fahmi said at his weekly press conference here today.
Separately, Fahmi said the Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, also agreed to hold the Festival of Ideas (FOI) annually in Putrajaya.
The ongoing FOI Putrajaya 2025, which will run until Nov 8, is expected to draw nearly 500,000 visitors and around two million participants, including 1.5 million virtual attendees from around the world.
Fahmi added that the Cabinet also expressed appreciation to Anwar for leading successful bilateral talks during his recent visit to South Korea for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit.
