
MANAMA (Bahrain): His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, will be honoured at a state banquet hosted by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain at Sakhir Palace on Friday (Nov 7) night.
The evening will commence with a private event for royal members at 7.30pm (12.30am Malaysian time).
Sultan Ibrahim will be accompanied by members of the Johor royal family, including Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar Al-Haj, Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman Al-Haj and Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar Al-Haj.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani, Foreign Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Seri Amran Mohamed Zin and Malaysia’s Ambassador to Bahrain Datuk Shazryll Zahiran will also attend the event.
The evening’s formalities will include a recital of Quranic verses at the National Council Room, followed by speeches from both King Hamad and Sultan Ibrahim.
Sultan Ibrahim arrived here on Thursday (Nov 6) after concluding a four-day state visit to Saudi Arabia.
This is the King’s sixth state engagement abroad, following Singapore, China, Brunei, Russia and Saudi Arabia, and marks a historic milestone in Malaysia-Bahrain relations, as it is the first royal visit since 1974. – Bernama
