BATU GAJAH: The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, has sponsored food and beverages for 9,900 inmates across seven correctional institutions in Perak.

The sponsorship was made in conjunction with his 69th birthday celebration.

Orang Besar Jajahan Kinta, Datuk Ab Wahab Azizul Hassan, said the Sultan has always shown deep concern for the welfare of inmates serving sentences in the state’s prisons.

The contribution benefited prospects at Tapah Prison, Taiping Prison, Kamunting Correctional Centre, Batu Gajah Correctional Centre, Chenderiang Correctional Centre, Kuala Kangsar Satellite Prison, and the Perak Halfway House.

“Perak is truly blessed to be under the reign of a ruler with a noble heart and a people-centric spirit,” said Ab Wahab during the sponsor presentation ceremony at the Batu Gajah Correctional Centre.

“His Royal Highness has never tired of ensuring the wellbeing and prosperity of his subjects, regardless of background, race, or religion.”

Also present were Kinta District Officer Zulhisham Ahmad Shukori and Batu Gajah Correctional Centre Director, Assistant Prison Commissioner S. Tanabal.

In his welcoming speech, Tanabal said Sultan Nazrin contributed RM118,800 for the preparation of the meals and beverages.

He described the gesture as a symbol of compassion and inclusivity.

“This contribution not only meets the physical needs of the inmates but also reflects the Sultan’s care and empathy for his people,” he added.

“It serves as a catalyst for rehabilitation and moral growth, in line with the Malaysia MADANI vision and the national prison rehabilitation policy.” – Bernama
