Balakong forest blaze scorches 1.2ha of hillside, no casualties reported

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 — A forest fire was reported in Taman Seri Timah, Balakong, near here yesterday.

Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received an emergency call about the incident at 7.02pm.

He said a team from the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), comprising 14 personnel, was deployed to the location and arrived there at 7.25pm.

According to Ahmad Mukhlis, the fire involved a forested area on top of a hill, covering an estimated 1.2 hectares.

“Three appliances were used in the operation, namely a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT), a Light Fire Rescue Tender (LFRT) and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit.

“The operation was also assisted by personnel from the Seri Kembangan BBP and two volunteer fire brigades (PBS), namely from Balakong and Serdang,” he said when contacted by Bernama yesterday.

Ahmad Mukhlis said no victims were reported in the incident, and firefighting efforts were ongoing at the site. — Bernama
