Barisan Nasional (BN) deputy chairman Mohamad Hasan has confirmed that there will be no seat clashes between BN and Pakatan Harapan (PH) at the upcoming state polls in Sabah.
Mohamad, the Umno deputy president, said although discussions within BN on seat allocations remained ongoing, both parties in the Madani government would not contest against each other.
“BN’s machinery must continue working until polling day on Nov 29 to ensure BN’s victory in the upcoming election,” he told reporters after attending a gathering with Kampung Contoh residents here yesterday.
The Election Commission has set Nov 29 as polling day, with nomination day on Nov 15 and early voting on Nov 25.
Meanwhile, Mohamad proposed that Putatan Umno division chief Jeffrey Nor Mohamed be chosen as Umno’s candidate for the Tanjung Keramat seat in the state polls.
Mohamad said Jeffrey Nor’s loyalty to the party and his efforts to rebuild Umno’s strength in Putatan made him a deserving candidate.
“We support Jeffrey Nor as the candidate for Tanjung Keramat due to the strong support from the local community, but we will wait for the official announcement from the leadership,” he said.
