Zaliha orders urgent action on traditional village and land issues in KL

KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Territories Department (JWP) has been directed to urgently address longstanding issues affecting traditional villages in Kuala Lumpur, including matters related to foreign residents, infrastructure maintenance and land use status.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said attention must also be given to agricultural land that has been occupied with residential structures without proper approval.

“I have instructed JWP to pay special attention to issues plaguing traditional villages in Kuala Lumpur,” she said in a Facebook post yesterday.

The directive was issued while Dr Zaliha chaired the Meeting of Heads of Agencies under the Federal Territories Department at the FT Land and Mines Office.

She said the initiative aligns with efforts to strengthen land governance and ensure that development in the Federal Territories is orderly, data-driven and centred on community well-being.

During the meeting, the Mobil e-Tanah application — set to be officially launched on Nov 11 — was introduced. The app aims to improve public access to land-related information and services in the Federal Territory in a more transparent and user-friendly manner.

Dr Zaliha added that JWP agencies also presented updates on energy efficiency and asset management initiatives, including the use of new energy technologies to support green building certification and reduce government electricity costs. These efforts are part of the CHASE City agenda (Clean–Healthy–Advanced–Safe–Eco).— BERNAMA
