KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 (Bernama) — Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar heads the list of 238 recipients of Perak state honours and medals in conjunction with the 69th Birthday of the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, to be celebrated tomorrow (Nov 7).
Shamsul Azri, 56, who became the 16th Chief Secretary to the Government in August 2024, is the recipient of the Darjah Dato’ Seri Cura Si Manja Kini (SPCM), which carries the title Datuk Seri.
Perak State Assembly Speaker Datuk Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid, Solicitor-General II Datuk Umar Saifuddin Jaafar and Orang Besar Empat Negeri Perak Datuk Dr Syed Jaafar Syed Aznan are recipients of the Darjah Dato’ Seri Paduka Mahkota Perak (SPMP), which also carries the title Datuk Seri.
Meanwhile, Chief of Defence Force General Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaffar and Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail receive the Darjah Dato’ Seri Panglima Taming Sari (SPTS), which carries the title Datuk Seri Panglima.
Public Works Department Director-General Datuk Seri Ir Roslan Ismail receives the Darjah Dato’ Paduka Cura Si Manja Kini (DPCM), which carries the title Datuk.
Perak State Executive Council members A. Sivanesan and Khairudin Abu Hanipah, Perak State Health Director Dr Feisul Idzwan Mustapha and Perak Fire and Rescue Department Director Sayani Saidon are among 17 recipients of the Darjah Dato’ Paduka Mahkota Perak (DPMP), which carries the title Datuk.
Former Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) CEO Roslan Ariffin, now Director of the Tun Abdul Razak Broadcasting and Information Institute, also receives the DPMP.
The late former Ayer Kuning assemblyman Ishsam Shahruddin is posthumously awarded the Darjah Paduka Mahkota Perak (PMP), while 28 other individuals also receive the same medal.
Malaysia’s world champion badminton pair at the recent BWF World Championships 2025 in Paris, Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei, are among 58 recipients of the Pingat Pekerti Terpilih (PPT).
Meanwhile, six individuals receive the Darjah Dato’ Pahlawan Taming Sari (DPTS), which carries the title Datuk Pahlawan; Darjah Paduka Cura Si Manja Kini (PCM) (13 recipients); Darjah Ahli Cura Si Manja Kini (ACM) (14 recipients); and Darjah Ahli Mahkota Perak (AMP) (39 recipients).
Another 46 individuals receive the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK); and Pingat Lama Perkhidmatan (PLP) (nine recipients).
Earlier at a press conference, Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja Gen (Rtd) Tan Sri Dr Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin said the Investiture Ceremony for Perak state honours and medals would be held in two sessions.
He said the first session on Nov 9 and the second on Nov 15 would take place at the Balairong Seri, Istana Iskandariah, Kuala Kangsar.
He added that this year’s celebration would begin with a Yassin recitation and Doa Selamat ceremony at Masjid Ubudiah, Kuala Kangsar, after Friday prayers on Nov 7.
“The same ceremony will be held at all district mosques statewide, led by the respective Orang Besar Jajahan and District Officers,” he said.
In addition, the Sultan of Perak has consented to sponsor lunch meals to be distributed this Friday to 9,900 inmates at Tapah Prison, Taiping Prison, Kamunting Correctional Centre and Batu Gajah Correctional Centre.
