, Nov 6 (Bernama) — The Festival of Ideas (FOI) 2025 aims to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a dynamic hub for higher education and research, where innovation and ethics unite to serve humanity, said Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir.

Themed “MADANI: Shaping the Future, Turning Ideas into Reality”, he said the FOI envisions as a city of ideas, a meeting ground for policy, philosophy and innovation.

Zambry said society today lives in a time marked by speed and innovation, but advancement becomes vital to balance progress with wisdom and purpose.

“The FOI upholds the truth that progress draws its strength from wisdom, that technology must be guided by ethics and that education must serve humanity. This captures the essence of higher learning, where knowledge nurtures both mind and conscience,” he said today.

The third day of the Putrajaya FOI was graced by Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia.

Johor Regent’s consort, Che’ Puan Mahkota Khaleeda Bustamam, who is also Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Pro-Chancellor, was in attendance.

Zambry said the Putrajaya FOI underscores Malaysia’s belief that ideas must serve both intellect and humanity, calling on society to think deeply, innovate ethically and to build a future that is intelligent and humane.

The Minister also expressed deep appreciation to UTM, the lead organiser of FOI and steward of the Royal Address today.

He said UTM’s legacy of scholarship and innovation reflects the ministry’s aspiration to make Malaysia a centre of intellectual and moral excellence.

Zambry also expressed gratitude to Her Majesty for gracing the event with her presence.

“Your Majesty’s example as a Scholar Queen continues to inspire this pursuit and to fuel the Ministry of Higher Education in nurturing a generation that is both competent and conscientious,” he said.

The Putrajaya FOI 2025, running from Nov 4 to 8, is expected to draw nearly 500,000 on-site visitors and around two million, including 1.5 million joining virtually from around the world.

Now in its second year, Putrajaya FOI 2025 serves not only as a platform for exchanging ideas but also as a premier forum for transforming knowledge and creativity into solutions that advance public welfare and national development.
