CYBERJAYA, Nov 6 — US President Donald Trump has expressed admiration for Malaysia’s security and enforcement capabilities and asked to meet Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail to personally convey his appreciation, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today.
Speaking at the launch of the Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park 2 here, Anwar said Trump was impressed by the professionalism and efficiency demonstrated by Malaysian security forces during recent high-profile visits, including those by Trump himself and Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
“President Trump even requested permission to meet the Inspector-General of Police to personally express his appreciation for the outstanding professionalism of our security forces,” he said in his speech.
He said Malaysia’s success in managing such visits, which drew international attention, was the result of strong teamwork involving multiple agencies, including the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti), the Foreign Ministry and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
“Just now, I had a meeting at the office with one of the world’s largest investment groups from New York. They already have some early investments here, but now they feel that with the global attention and the successes of our various teams — Miti, the Foreign Ministry, and everyone involved, including the Royal Malaysia Police peacekeeping unit — who have all demonstrated great efficiency during the visits of Premier Li Qiang and President Donald Trump, they are truly impressed not only with our infrastructure but also our competence,” he said.
Anwar said this was the result of strong teamwork among various agencies.
