Kampung Bagan Pulau Ketam crowned ‘s best new village, with RM3,000 prize, emphasising community spirit and environmental sustainability.

KLANG: Kampung Bagan Pulau Ketam has been crowned the winner of the Best New Village Award 2025.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the award strengthens community spirit, environmental cleanliness, and sustainable living culture.

He emphasised that the biennial programme encourages village leadership and communities to maintain beauty, cleanliness, and social harmony.

“This award is not just a competition,” Amirudin said during the award ceremony.

“It is a community movement to instill a sense of love, responsibility, and togetherness in developing the village comprehensively.”

He noted that village cleanliness directly impacts residents’ health, wellbeing, and quality of life.

Amirudin highlighted the crucial role of village leadership and Village Management and Security Committees in mobilising community activities.

“Success starts with visionary leadership close to the people,” he stated.

The award aligns with the First Selangor Plan and Sustainable Development Goals for balanced economic and environmental progress.

Kampung Sekinchan Site C placed second, followed by Kampung Baru Seri Setia in third position.

Winners received cash prizes of RM3,000, RM2,000, and RM1,500 respectively, plus trophies and recognition certificates.

Local Government and Tourism Executive Councillor Datuk Ng Suee Lim also attended the ceremony. – Bernama
