KUANTAN: The decomposed body discovered beneath a pile of oil palm fronds at a plantation in Batu 19, Jalan Karak–Kuala Pilah, near Telemong in Bentong on Oct 3 has been identified as that of an Indonesian woman.

Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said the victim’s husband had confirmed that the remains belonged to his missing wife, who was in her 40s.

“An autopsy conducted at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital here yesterday revealed that the woman had died more than two weeks before her body was discovered on Oct 3.

“The case has been classified as a sudden death for the time being, pending the full post-mortem report and further investigations at the oil palm plantation,” he told reporters at the police logistics complex in Alor Akar here today.

Earlier, Yahaya attended a rank conferment ceremony for Jerantut district police chief Superintendent Mohd Azahari Mukhtar and Pahang Criminal Investigation Department deputy chief (legal investigation) Superintendent Maziah Hamzah.

It is learnt that the victim’s husband had never lodged a missing person report, and it remains unclear how long the woman had been missing.

Her remains were clad in green sports pants, a black hooded sweater, and black slippers, and bore a Casio wristwatch.
