KUALA LUMPUR: IJM Corp Bhd’s wholly-owned IJM Construction Sdn Bhd has secured a RM1.4 billion contract from New Pantai Expressway Sdn Bhd (NPE) to design and build the New Pantai Highway Extension (NPE 2).
The project, which will extend connectivity from the existing Pantai Dalam toll plaza to the Jalan Istana Interchange via Jalan Syed Putra, will feature a 15-kilometre fully elevated highway with directional ramps and a new toll plaza.
According to IJM Corp’s filing with Bursa Malaysia, the project is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025 and is expected to be completed within 48 months from commencement.
IJM Corp group chief executive officer and managing director Datuk Lee Chun Fai said the contract signifies the transition of the NPE Extension from the planning stage to actual implementation.
He added that it represents the company’s third project valued at over RM1 billion this year, following the RM1.4 billion fast-track data centre in Johor and the RM2.13 billion hyperscale data centre development in Elmina.
“Together, these wins reflect IJM Construction’s progress in delivering large-scale projects across industrial and infrastructure sectors,” he said.
IJM Construction’s outstanding order book has reached a record RM15.2 billion, including its share of projects in the United Kingdom and Singapore.
In Malaysia, the order book totals about RM9.3 billion, supported by a balanced mix of industrial and infrastructure projects driving the company’s growth.
