Nearly 1,000 civil servants face disciplinary action, says Azalina


KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 5,474 complaints were received from Integrity Units established within ministries and agencies between January and April this year, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.

She said the figures were part of the findings from the Integrity Unit’s First Term Report for the period between January and April 2025.

“A total of 930 disciplinary actions were taken under the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993,” she added in a written parliamentary reply.

Azalina said 948 monitoring activities on legal and regulatory compliance were also carried out in public agencies.

“As of 31 August 2025, a total of 479 Integrity Units (IUs) have been established across ministries, departments and agencies at both the federal and state government levels, as shown in the following table,” she added.

These include 28 in ministries, 105 in federal agencies, 11 at state secretary offices, 67 in state agencies, 86 among local authorities, 112 in federal statutory bodies and 70 in state statutory bodies.
