plans to extend its Visit Year (VSY) 2025 tourism campaign into 2026 to boost visitor numbers and support the national Visit Malaysia initiative.

KLANG: The government has proposed extending the Visit Selangor Year (VSY) 2025 campaign into next year.

State Local Government and Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Ng Suee Lim said the announcement will be made soon by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

He explained this move aligns with the national Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign to increase tourist arrivals.

“Selangor plays an important role in ensuring the number of domestic and international tourists coming to Malaysia,” Ng said during the Selangor Local Community Host graduation ceremony.

He emphasised that Selangor serves as Malaysia’s gateway and must work hard to move forward together.

Ng also highlighted plans to meet with unlicensed homestay operators statewide to explain the legalisation process.

This ensures businesses operate orderly while complying with Ministry of Tourism and local authority regulations.

Meanwhile, the state will form a committee under Tourism Selangor to prepare the Gombak-Hulu Langat Geopark for UNESCO World Heritage Site recognition.

The graduation ceremony celebrated 49 participants from Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam districts.

Eighteen companies and individuals received the Selangor Iconic Product Award 2024.

Nine companies obtained Malaysia Tourism Quality Assurance certificates.

Graduates completed three months of training under the Department of Skills Development and Tourism Ministry.

Training covered heritage asset mapping, interpretation activities, visitor hosting services, and career sustainability.

Launched in 2018, the community host programme showcases Selangor’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.

Participant Ummi Nabilah Shafry, 32, learned how to promote Selangor’s lesser-known local products and unique features.

Another participant, Choo Siew Joon, 55, gained knowledge about local uniqueness through the creative modules. – Bernama
