Muhyiddin arrives at Bersatu meeting to shouts of 'Hidup Abah'

KUALA LUMPUR: Bersatu president Tan Sri Yassin arrived at the party headquarters in Menara Yayasan tonight to shouts of “Hidup Tan Sri, Hidup Abah”.

He arrived about 8.40pm to chair the party’s supreme council meeting amid ongoing tensions within the party.

Among those seen at the venue were deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, information chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz and supreme council members Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah and Datuk Rosol Wahid.

The meeting is expected to discuss the internal turmoil facing the party, including claims that several Bersatu members of parliament have withdrawn their support for the Pagoh MP.

Recently, a document addressed to and purportedly signed by 16 Bersatu MPs went viral on social media, raising concerns about growing rifts within the party.

The document reportedly expressed disagreement over the sacking of Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan and the suspension of Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, describing the move as unwise and detrimental to Perikatan Nasional’s public support momentum.

Those said to have signed the document include Masjid Tanah MP Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, Indera Mahkota MP Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah, Tanah Merah MP Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz, and Hulu Terengganu MP Datuk Rosol Wahid.

As of now, none of the 16 lawmakers mentioned in the viral document have issued any statements to confirm or deny its authenticity.
