KUALA LUMPUR: Negri Sembilan teenager Riess William Ling Eng won the men’s discus gold at the Hong Kong Open Athletics Championships today.
The 17-year-old posted a personal best of 48.63m at the Wan Chai sports ground. It was better than his Sukma silver-winning effort of 44.77m last year.

“I hope he can continue improving and win a place in the Sea Games team in December. The Sea Games qualifying mark is 50.02m,” said Ali, who has been coaching Riess since he was nine.
Malaysian athletes won two golds, one silver and two bronzes in the two-day Hong Kong meet.
